Date: 18.11.2021

The draft resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On additional measures for the further development of the areas of ensuring seismic safety in Uzbekistan” has been published on the regulation.gov.uz portal.

With this draft resolution, The Space Research and Technology Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan is entrusted with the following tasks:

→ by June 1, 2022, the Academy of Sciences, together with the Republican Center for Seismic Prognostic Monitoring and interested ministries and departments, will develop an interactive online map of highly seismically active, medium-active and low-activity territories of Uzbekistan and will include in the list of users legal entities (design organizations) that develop master plans for settlements and other urban planning documentation;

→ by October 1, 2022, introduce a radar space monitoring system designed to determine such factors as deformation, shear, subsidence of the areas of buildings and structures located in seismically active zones as a result of earthquakes;

→ together with the Ministry of Water Resources, the State Inspectorate for Supervision of the Safety of Water Management Facilities and interested ministries and departments, they will introduce a system of permanent space monitoring of the seismic resistance level of reservoir dams;

→ together with the Ministry of Water Resources, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the State Inspectorate for Supervision of the Safety of Water Management Facilities, using geoinformation technologies, create visual models of areas that may be flooded as a result of an overturning of a dam as a result of an earthquake;

→ together with the Ministry of Water Resources, the State Inspectorate for Supervision of the Safety of Water Management Facilities, create a system for providing the relevant ministries and departments with the necessary space images and processed information for organizing rescue operations in the event of a dam overturning as a result of an earthquake;

→ ensuring that the requested information is routinely submitted to the Agency for Space Research and Technology by the relevant ministries and departments, while ensuring the fulfillment of the assigned tasks.
