On June 8, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of projects for the modernization of reservoirs and the improvement of drinking water supply in the Surkhandarya region.

In our country, river waters are an important resource for agriculture, energy and the life of the population, which must be protected and used for the benefit of the people.

To this end, in 2017, by decree of the President, the joint-stock company Uzbekhydroenergo was established. The company manages 6 reservoirs, including 4 reservoirs transferred to the management of the company last year. With the involvement of foreign companies, a study of the technical condition of each reservoir was carried out and measures for the necessary repair measures were determined. Thus, dams, water intake and drainage structures are being strengthened, pumping units are being restored.

The presentation provides information about this work and future tasks.

The head of state instructed to improve the safety of all reservoirs through modernization, updating of hydromechanical equipment and measuring instruments, and digitalization of the system.

At the same time, the Agency for Space Research and Technology under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan was entrusted with the task of monitoring the state of reservoirs, providing satellite images and data.
