Issues of cooperation between the "Uzbekcosmos" Agency and the Portuguese Space Agency discussed

On June 14 of the current year, a meeting was held with the participation of acting General Director of the Agency "Uzbekcosmos" Shukhrat Kadirov and President of the Portuguese Space Agency Ricardo Conde, where representatives of the Agency "Uzbekcosmos" got acquainted with the national space program of Portugal "Portugal Space - 2030", which was adopted in 2020.

Portugal has been operating as a member of the European Space Agency for 15 years, and the Portuguese Space Agency is also a member of the UN Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space.

At present, Portugal has 2 high-definition remote sensing satellites, with which it solves problems in areas such as food security, water scarcity, natural resource management, land use, ocean pollution monitoring.

There are a number of programs and competitions organized by the Portuguese Space Agency to support young people, including space education programs, university competitions in the design, production and launch of small rockets, grant programs for the development of small satellites, which are held annually throughout the country.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached with the Portuguese Space Agency on organizing trainings to develop skills in the field of remote sensing of the Earth, getting acquainted with the projects implemented by the agencies and exchanging views, developing a memorandum of understanding between the agencies in order to establish cooperation in the field of supporting young people and increasing their interest in space industries.
