An asteroid the size of a skyscraper will fly through the Earth's orbit

Date: 31.10.2022

According to NASA, a recently discovered "potentially dangerous" asteroid the size of almost the tallest skyscraper in the world should fly past Earth.

The asteroid, named 2022 RM4, has an estimated diameter of 330 to 740 meters — slightly less than the height of Dubai's Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world, with a height of 828 meters. According to NASA, it will fly past our planet at a speed of about 84,500 km/h, which is about 68 times the speed of sound.

At the maximum approach on November 1, the asteroid will approach the Earth by about 2.3 million kilometers, which is about six times the average distance between the Earth and the Moon.
