China intends to change the orbit of a potentially dangerous asteroid by testing a kinetic striker as part of plans to create a planetary defense system.

China is developing a planetary defense plan and will carry out technical research and study on the development of systems to counter threats from near-Earth asteroids, Wu Yanhua, vice administrator of the China National Space Administration (CNSA), said in an interview with China Central Television (CCTV).

Wu said this system will help to cope with the threat of near-Earth objects to humanity and will make a new contribution to the development of China in the future.
