Head of “Uzbekkosmos” Shukhrat Kadirov met with cosmonaut Vladimir Zhanibekov

Director General of the Agency for Space Research and Technology under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shukhrat Kadirov congratulated the Hero of the Soviet Union, cosmonaut Vladimir Zhanibekov on his 80th birthday.

During the meeting in Moscow, the head of "Uzbekkosmos", Sh. Kadirov, emphasized that all the results achieved by pilot-cosmonaut Vladimir Zhanibekov in the space field today serve as an example and a school for young personnel in this field. Zhanibekov's vast experience will serve as an important factor in further improving the activities of the Agency and the development of the industry.

Minor planet No. 3170 is named after the former cosmonaut, who was born in Uzbekistan. Also in Tashkent there is a bronze bust of the astronaut.

Vladimir Dzhanibekov is a Soviet cosmonaut born in Uzbekistan, Major General of Aviation, twice Hero of the Soviet Union. He is considered the most experienced cosmonaut of the USSR, who made the largest number of space flights - five. In total, Dzhanibekov spent 145 days 15 hours 58 minutes in flight.

At the end of the meeting, Vladimir Dzhanibekov expressed his gratitude to the head of the Agency for Space Research and Technology and highly appreciated the ongoing reforms in the space sector in Uzbekistan.
